The release of this mixtape in August 2003 was a landmark in the Toronto underground hip hop community with over 79 minutes of music with the creative workings of 40/40 Mr. Noah Shebib. 30 tracks of hardcore lyrics and raw beats, the first volume of Sick Artists Runnin Shit was born. With appearances from Empire, Hu$tlemann, Promise, Nem-s-sis, Puzzle and a Battle of names with Paradox vs Paradox. On the birth of its arrival, S.A.R.S. Vol. 1 sold over 600 copies hand to hand in a single day.
