At Last! is the debut studio album by American Blues artist, Etta James. The album was released on Argo Records in 1961 and was produced by Phil and Leonard Chess. The original release contained four of James’s hits on the Rhythm and Blues Records Chart between 1960 and 1961. It was her first of five studio albums James would release on the Argo label. At Last! was ranked at #116 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Since its release, At Last! has been reviewed by many online music websites and magazines. Stephen Cook of Allmusic gave the album five out of five stars, and, about James, wrote, “one hears the singer at her peak in a swinging and varied program of blues, R&B, and jazz standards.” Cook also praised the material that was recorded for the album, saying that At Last! had “strong material throughout.” He also went on to say that James’s voice, “expertly handles jazz standards like “Stormy Weather” and “A Sunday Kind of Love,” as well as Willie Dixon’s blues classic “I Just Want to Make Love to You.” James demonstrates her keen facility on the title track in particular, as she easily moves from powerful blues shouting to more subtle, airy phrasing; her Ruth Brown-inspired, bad-girl growl only adds to the intensity.”

Pain in My Heart is the debut album of soul singer-songwriter Otis Redding. Redding recorded for Volt Records, a subsidiary of Memphis, Tennessee based Stax Records; Volt LP releases were initially issued on the Atco label, which released this album (with the singles issued on the Volt label). The album includes four successful Redding singles released in 1962 and 1963: “These Arms of Mine” (R&B #20; US #85), “That’s What My Heart Needs” (R&B #27), “Security” (US #97), and the title track (US #61). Since Billboard Magazine did not publish an R&B singles chart from late 1963 to early 1965, the R&B chart peaks of the latter two singles are unknown.

Inspirado nos afro-sambas de Vinícius de Moraes e Baden Powell; este disco vem resgatar
as raízes de um povo. Letras que abordam a espiritualidade afro-brasileira; músicas
recheadas de samples e elementos percussivos. Uma mistura de scratchs e tambores;
ritmo e poesia; santos e orixás. Pedindo a benção de Deus, e com a licença dos
ancestrais; apresento com muito respeito e amor: “Os Afro-raps”.

OS AFRO-RAPS

O projeto “Os Afro-raps” é mais que um disco de rap. É um resgate da raiz da própria
música brasileira.

A música RAP (ritmo e poesia) surgiu com este nome no subúrbio dos Estados Unidos.
Mas longe de ser uma cultura americanizada, ela encontra suas raízes no canto falado
do reggae jamaicano; e buscando mais profundamente, chegamos na tradição oral
da “contação de histórias” dos “griots” na África. Podemos sentir a presença forte
da África no nosso rap, apesar da evolução constante que surge com o passar dos tempos.
Na sonoridade e na temática das letras, “Os Afro-raps” possuem também uma forte ligação
com o samba e os pontos de terreiro. Desse modo, encontra-se também uma forte
“brasilidade” neste projeto. Além de toda questão musical, “Os Afro-raps” também possuem
a missão de quebrar preconceitos que, em pleno século XXI, ainda rodeiam a espiritualidade
afro-brasileira. Cada música deste projeto é ligada à uma força da natureza, à um Orixá.
“Dona Janaína” está ligada ao mar (Iemanjá), “Quem foi?” é inspirada na força do
trovão (Xangô), “Okê Arô” se relaciona com as matas (Oxóssi); e assim seguem as demais
faixas do disco. No meio da poesia urbana e seu protesto, encontramos uma nova maneira de
louvação aos santos e mártires; mostrando que a juventude ainda está ligada com as raízes
religiosas e culturais dos nossos antepassados. O disco conta com um time afinado de
produtores e músicos; além das participações do rapper Emicida, de Kene Konaman
(vocalista da banda A Tropa), e de Mr. Jordan.

MC RALPH

Rapper, jornalista, pesquisador musical, e compositor. É operador de áudio na rádio 107,7 FM;
a única rádio educativa do Vale do Paraíba. É MC desde 1999, e já lançou três álbuns
(“Gírias nacionais”, “No fundo do baú”, e “Dá-me licença”).
É conhecido pela arte do Freestyle (repente do rap) e é campeão da batalha de MCs do
prêmio Hutuz (maior premiação de rap no país). Com isso, passou a se apresentar com
maior freqüência no estado do Rio de Janeiro e na capital paulista. Militante do
movimento Hip Hop no Vale do Paraíba-SP há mais de dez anos; busca preservar esta
cultura, quebrando preconceitos e mostrando um trabalho inovador.

Desde 2002 na correria quando foi convidado pelo MC Kamau a fazer a segunda voz para
o grupo Consequência e de integrar o grupo Simples ao lado de Kamau, Dieguinho Beat Box,
Stefanie e Dj Will.

HenRick Fuentes segue trabalhando suas músicas recheadas de qualidade. Em 2006,
o Simples lançou o disco Escuta aí, um disco que teve um resultado acima do esperado e
abriu portas para que eles tocassem em diversos lugares do país e ainda dividir o palco
do Indie Hip Hop com ninguém menos que De la Soul. Depois de três anos sem fazer música
e fora do circuito do RAP, HenRick mostra que o tempo em que ficou afastado só serviu
de inspiração para escrever novas letras e renovar o seu estilo. Com letras irreverentes
e beats swingados, lançou este ano EP ” Meu dito, Meu feito “.

O disco conta com a participação dos MCs Ogi e Jeff e nas produções Renan Saman,
Dj Caíque, Casp, Dario, Dj Soares e Cabes assinam as bases do disco.

Todas as faixas foram gravadas no Studio Nômade

Mixadas e masterizadas por Dj Caique, exceto faixa 2 mixada por Cabes
e faixa 9 mixada por Lx (Stereodubs)
