I’ve known Amadeus the Stampede for years. The first time we met was at the former Greater Good compound in Jamaica Plain — where co-defendant Jake the Snake resided, and where Amadeus was a couch-riding regular. Even back then I knew, from his short, aggressive banter, that this dude was chemically scrambled, and he’s confirmed that prognosis several times since.
But for a shattered MC whose life story reads like Basketball Diaries, Kids, and Requiem combined and set in modern black Boston, the leather-throated hardcore rhyme horse has composed a focused solo debut. Whereas a lot of rappers allege to rhyme for catharsis, Amadeus wrestles demons by the horns. His track list is a prescription for addiction and degeneracy: “Deadly Toxins” with Reks, “Psycho” with Slaine, and “Pig Pen” with Lateb and Skinny are dark enough to bring nightmares.
On the mic, Amadeus is more Golden Era than experimental — think the Game meets Inspectah Deck — but his backdrops are contemporary. The producers on this project — from Matty Trump and J Scrilla to Stubangas and Amadeus himself — deserve props, not just for bringing the synth-soaked party favors but for dealing with a basket case like the Stampede.

“2011 is the year of Madchild.

One third of Canada’s most notorious rap group, Madchild has
been on a very tight schedule this year while probably
delivering the rap industry’s greatest comeback ever.

He began the year by releasing his first digi EP entitled
“Banned from America” back in February and then further
entrenched his underground presence by dropping Swollen
Members’ 6th studio album back in April entitled “Dagger Mouth”.

From there on, he’s releasing “King of Pain” which is a very

Here’s my latest music video “Grown Up”. The video for this track was written and directed by Portland filmmaker Tim Slusarczyk and hosts something of a fractured, off-center story arc. Is it about drugs? Sad dudes with beards? Inner demons and moldy ceilings? Maybe. Maybe not.

“Many One” is just the first video to come from “Tusks!,” the initial album in the “Eaters” series, which I liken to Madlib’s “Beat Konducta” records, only filtered through a vision of Ratatat-esque indie rock sprinkled with boom-bap power. Enjoy!

“20-2-Life was Black and Killahoa from South Park, Houston. After servin’ time, those two guys hit the scene hard with their albums. They definitely ain’t too much of good rappers, but they do a good job. While not beein’ mad lyricists or technical rappers, they just put together good albums. Such as this one. Their furst full length (released by Bigtyme Recordz) was full of raw, dirty street rap. “Backstreets” was featured on Master P’s “Down South Hustlers”-compilation and might be familiar to some of y’all. But the song on this one is “After servin a Deuce”. That one is just…too good to be true! Some of the funkiest shit I’ve ever heard on a rap song. A pure classic. Jack White has recorded, produced and released, through his label Third Man, a single for rapper Black Milk.

The track, dubbed “Brain,” features White on the A-side playing guitar and on the b-side, “Royal Mega,” he plays drums. The single has been released on 7″ vinyl and via digital download.

Both White and Black Milk are natives of Detroit, which initially provided the two musicians with common ground. On his website, Black Milk had nothing but good things to say about the experience:

“The time we spent in Nashville collaborating with Jack White was one of the greatest moments in my music career. It not only inspired me to continue to work hard as a producer, but also confirmed that staying true to my art, without compromise, can manifest into the type of rewards that money can’t buy.”
