“David” is a collection of songs that Capaciti wrote for his family that was never intended for public consumption. Backed by Jaron’s soulful production the listener will feel they are experiencing the stories firsthand.

Recorded between late ’08 and 2011 these songs have collected dust at west end studios for too long.

The more we listened to these random songs, the more they started to mold together as a whole with the “right” vibe.

We also had the privlage to collab with Big Jess and Gel Roc (both songs were never intended to be on this project, but fit too well).

Desde sempre, a concepção que tínhamos para um disco do Quinto Andar era
a de todos participarem igualmente da parada. Mas imagine o que seria fazer
um álbum com dez caras divididos em três estados! Até convencer os próprios
integrantes de que a idéia era viável já parecia complicado. Alguns anos
depois do “Piratão” e com a saída de alguns dos integrantes fundadores, a
idéia de um disco que fosse preencher a fome de unidade do coletivo, e que
fizesse todas as diversidades convergirem em um só bloco, continuava
martelando… Decidimos então, tentar a proeza.

Fomos para um sítio no interior de SP e por lá ficamos compondo e gravando
por um mês, levando tudo o que a ocasião pedia. Juntamos o bando de
maluco sem casa que sobrou pra decidir onde geral iria morar dali pra frente.
Tudo fluiu em perfeita harmonia, todos tinham a casa dos sonhos parecida
com a do outro e não tão diferente da que morávamos. Conclusão: optamos
por ficar no mesmo prédio mas, dessa vez, sem pagar aluguel, mudamos para
o SUBSOLO onde a gente tem toda liberdade de fazer barulho, não importa a
hora.

Como onde a luz não chega, prevalece a escuridão e os tons de cinza, esse
álbum saiu mais melancólico e obscuro, sem falar que é um álbum
completamente diferente do primeiro em todos os sentidos.

Esse disco foi a realização de um sonho antigo que todos sempre tivemos em
comum, algo do qual pudéssemos nos orgulhar, algo que compensasse todas
as provações pelas quais passamos, e chega a refletir um pouco a época
conturbada em que foi gravado. Acreditamos que conseguimos mais do que
nos propusemos a fazer: os que estavam no sítio hoje viraram uma família de
verdade. Tudo o que queríamos era fazer um álbum que nos desse orgulho,
mas até então nós só tínhamos a certeza de que queríamos fazer música boa.
Inconscientemente esbarramos em uma proposta, “fazer um álbum de RAP
nacional com o mesmo nível de qualidade artística que o dos nossos ídolos
gringos, porém de acordo com a nossa realidade e o momento em que
vivemos”.

Só quando ouvimos o material que tinha sido gravado que nós nos tocamos
do que tinha acontecido. O coletivo gravou um álbum tenso, obscuro, repleto
de críticas, desabafos, poesia, e com a nossa filosofia estampada em cada
caixa. Sabíamos que ia ser um álbum não-convencional e que estaríamos
contrariando todas as regras de mercado pra um produto comercializável e,
por isso mesmo, ligamos o foda-se! Fizemos um álbum sério, mas sem adotar
um tom panfletário. Imersos em nossa música, abstraímos o mundo do lado
de fora do nosso estúdio e, na nossa mente, nos referíamos a ele apenas
como algo realmente do lado de fora, como objeto de críticas ou poemas.

Esse é um álbum que visa enxergar o Rap Nacional como algo em constante
mutação, nunca algo estagnado e inflexível. Nosso rap fala da nossa vida e a
nossa vida está em constante mudança, adaptação e evolução. O resultado
