4,5,6 is the solo debut by hip hop artist Kool G Rap, released in September 1995 on Cold Chillin’ Records. The release followed his break-up with DJ Polo in 1993. The album was mostly received neutrally among critics, but was warmly accepted by underground fans. Despite the album’s dark, grimy street sound, it peaked at number one on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and also featured two crossover hits, with the title track “4,5,6”, and “Fast Life”. The album features guest appearances from B1, MF Grimm, and Nas (who also appeared on the front cover), as well as production from Dr. Butcher, Naughty Shorts, T-Ray, and Buckwild of D.I.T.C.

Return of the Boom Bap was KRS-One’s first official solo album, released in 1993 on the Jive Records label. It peaked on the Billboard 200 charts at position 37 on October 16, 1993. In 1998, the album was selected as one of The Source’s 100 Best Rap Albums. The record was originally rated 4 mics in The Source in 1993. Unlike the majority of the Boogie Down Productions LP’s, KRS here takes a step back from the production duties and invites rising underground stars DJ Premier, Showbiz and Kid Capri to handle the beats in addition to his four contributions. The track “Black Cop” was originally released as a 12″ single and a track for the CB4 movie soundtrack, thus labeled as a B.D.P. track. This release says the song is produced by Pal Joey (who worked closely with Kris on the last two B.D.P. albums) and KRS-One. Wille D from Boogie Down Productions also makes an uncredited cameo as he join Kris on the mic as a guest rapper on “Slap Them Up”. It’s also very likely DJ Kenny Parker performs uncredited scratches and cuts on a few songs.

Their new self titled release, which is now available on Bandcamp with a name your own price tag, is a short, simple, and sweet ride through a lost and forgotten world of what I call therapeutic hip hop, known to many as trip hop.

Haunted by Jenni Potts’ vocals, Chance Random’s beats creep cautiously around her lyrics, but finds solace in her warm breath and embraces each note. The chemistry between the two is obvious, and while the length of the record might shock listeners the first go around, they will soon find the perfection in its editing and the beauty in its clarity.

Chasing Rabbits is the newest solo release from Tab of the NJ hip-hop group The Dead Poets & the Green Llamas crew. This EP was entirely produced by Anitek, who has worked with many artists from Division East Records as well as underground acts such as Young Zee. The album was created as a concept album and was made with all original music.

“Traveling in Stereo” is the brand new release from Tab & Anitek. It was created in little over a month. The production was handled by Anitek once again with the lyrics and melodies written by Tab. Elle Rose also returns to lend her voice for backup vocals and beautiful harmonies. Although this album was created by the same team that brought you “Chasing Rabbits” it is a complete departure from their last release. “Chasing Rabbits” was the bad trip, it was dark and heavy. This album is a complete 180 from that. It is upbeat,witty and sarcastic.
