Greyboy’s had some nice cuts over the years, but I always looked at him more as an acid-jazz-type producer than hip-hop; 2001’s Mastered the Art changed my mind (although he hasn’t released much since then to top it). He flexes his skills on the MPC in variety of instrumentals (and cuts with MCs Main Flow and Muddie – “Dealing with the Archives” was one of my favorites beats in ’01), and for what he lays down on this album, shit was mad slept-on. “Bath Music” made it onto a few instrumental comps, but “Smokescreen” is a definite gem. I think you risk all your credibility by slapping a title like “Mastered the Art” on your album, but this was not an exercise in talking shit…

I was looking forward to this new Del more then i can put into words. However, after hearing 3 of the tracks on the new 14 track CD, I can only hang my head in utter disappointment. I couldnt get into any of these tracks at all. Its being released on DefJux and not Hiero Imperium for some reason. Del supposedly did this CD entirely by himself. I was ready to blame DefJux for killing Del, but it appears Del has killed himself. I can only pray the other 11 tracks dont sound this bad. You may think differently, but this along with EVERY big “name” release last year and so far this year has been less then spectacular.

Duval Clear, also known as Masta Ace. I rate his catalog up there with late 80s, early 90s legends like Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G, and BDK. He’s a damn good contender for my top 5, and consequently, has been backed by a range of legendary producers from Marley Marl to 9th Wonder. These are all the Masta Ace instrumentals I could find. If I’m missing any, let me know and I’ll look around. I had to look through the producers in my iTunes library to find all of the instrumentals I could. So I’m sure I missed some that I have. If you have any that aren’t here, upload ’em. Joseph Average was born to rock the mic. His musical interest really formed in his latter years in high school where he began free-styling at house parties after several alcoholic beverages.
After piecing together his home studio in his dad’s basement, he started recording himself along with Ravenous and Premonition, and eventually the three emcees formed Proof Of Life.
Proof Of Life had the shortest career in hip hop history. The break up led to Joseph selling real estate for two years without making any music.
After repetitive requests from Stuart Claiborn for Joseph to pic up the mic again, Joseph did just that. Within six months Walk With Me was written and recorded.
This record touches on everything from daily rituals, to the hair on his face, to his conversation with gOD. The old school party jams keep your head rockin and the political talk keeps you thinking. Joseph is now working on his sophomore album entirely produced by Positive ID titled “Positive Vibrations”.

Joseph Average was born to rock the mic. His musical interest really formed in his latter years in high school where he began free-styling at house parties after several alcoholic beverages.
After piecing together his home studio in his dad’s basement, he started recording himself along with Ravenous and Premonition, and eventually the three emcees formed Proof Of Life.
Proof Of Life had the shortest career in hip hop history. The break up led to Joseph selling real estate for two years without making any music.
After repetitive requests from Stuart Claiborn for Joseph to pic up the mic again, Joseph did just that. Within six months Walk With Me was written and recorded.
This record touches on everything from daily rituals, to the hair on his face, to his conversation with gOD. The old school party jams keep your head rockin and the political talk keeps you thinking. Joseph is now working on his sophomore album entirely produced by Positive ID titled “Positive Vibrations”.
