After 7 months in the making, Sydney producer P.R has finally dropped his much anticipated first solo pre-album mixtape ‘Pre-Heated”, which is the first installment and lead up to his major album ‘The Chopping Board’. ‘Pre-Heated’ is hosted by one of New Yorks major DJ/Producer extraordinaires ‘Statik Selektah’.

“The title speaks for itself, this project will warm my listeners up and prepare them for my major album”, as quoted by P.R.

‘Pre-Heated’ is mainly a sample based Hip-Hop project, which brings forth a clash between a range of different styles, including, Soul and Jazz. Each track has its own vibe and sound, one track could give off a hard raw underground feel, while another could give you a relaxed soulful feel.

The brand new video for Blockhead’s ‘The Music Scene’ is an animation by Anthony Schepperd, the man behind Ape School’s ‘Wail to God.’ The result of the pairing is a masterful, absorbing object that far exceeds the remit of a music video. The wreckage of a city re-taken by nature becomes a playground for Plasticine-brained mannequins, mechanical spiders, eye-screens and tentacles; and, of course, the animals from the Blockhead album artwork.

As an added extra, you can also download a snippet of Blockhead’s brand new track, ‘Ugly Brown’, exclusive to our massive box set out this September. Also expect a Blockhead remix by one of hip-hop’s all-time innovators, EL-P, as part of our XX releases too!

60 Second Assassin, cousin of the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard and founding member of the influential group Sunz of Man, has a voice you know and love. His street harmonizing has been heard on some of Wu-Tang’s greatest hits, including “C.R.E.A.M.” as well as Raekwon’s “Glaciers of Ice”. On June 22, 60 will be blessing us with his long-awaited debut album “Remarkable Timing”. The album is almost entirely produced by Bronze Nazareth, and features a host of Wu Killa Beez including the Sunz of Man reunion track “M.O.A.N.” In anticipation of this soon to be classic offering, DYP tha goldynchild, in association with M-Eighty, has assembled “The Retrospective: A Look Back”.
