C E D Tha Don, was born in Brooklyn, New York in the notorious Fort Greene Projects. He began M.C.ing around the age of 13, and has been doing it every since. Co4Sure is a three MC Australian hip hop outfit from the Adelaide Hills. The crew formed in 2001 when Joe (Maka) McCandless and Luke (Jeneral/Jral) Jenner started writing rhymes and making beats on their home PC. Two years later, Neil (Howie) Housego joined to complete the crew. Co4Sure have enjoyed being a part of the 2006 Adelaide Fringe Festival playing their explosive set at the Carclew ‘Off The Couch’ hip hop showcase and the ‘Acquiescence: Creating not Dreaming’ festival. Co4Sure are beginning to make solid foundations in Adelaide and have played many shows at the Rhino Room supporting acts such as ‘Terra Firma’, ‘Morganics’, ‘Style High Club’ and ‘A Tribe is Forming’. The crew also set the roof on fire whilst supporting the ‘Bliss N Esso’ album launch at Earth Nightclub in Feb 2006. Co4Sure’s sound is a formula of up-tempo, party orientated, head nodding magic. The crew is strong in its ability to deliver a variety of music styles from hard hitting, meaningful story writing to fun loving, party time Australian hip hop that leaves the listeners rocking. Their live shows are always filled with an electric stage presence and are conducted with professionalism. After six years of writing tracks and rockin shows, the Co4Sure crew have finally come up with a product that they feel is ready for the ever expanding Australian Hip Hop scene. I picked this up when I was in Hong Kong and I was rather pleased with my purchase. I’d heard of Mix Master Mike from the work he did on Hello Nasty, along with his reputable work with the Invisbl Skratch Piklz, who I mentioned in my last post. So naturally, I wasn’t worried when I bought this release, and if I were you, I wouldn’t be worried while downloading it. It’s a nice concept with some nicely picked samples, add on MMM’s scratching and you have a hell of a release.

Living Proof (Prem and Flowtope) – Prem and Flowtope began working on music together in 2005 and would be come to be know as Living Proof in 2006, after doing various shows and recording an album worth of material tagged “The Stereo Types.” This collection of 17 unreleased songs includes collaborations with Liv Warfield and Gold of Sandpeople as well as production from Sherpa and 5th Sequence. In fall of 2006, Living Proof began work on the official debut album entitled “Roots To Branches” produced, mixed, and mastered, entirely by Sapient of Sandpeole. This album is 14 songs, over 50 minutes long, and features Myka 9 of Freestyle Fellowship, Liv Warfield, AED, Sapient, Mo-B, Only-One, Iame, Gold, and DJ Spark of Sandpeople. “Roots To Branches” is available in select stores and online November 20th, 2007.

Kwest the Madd Lad disappeared from the scene for a long time and later reconnected with his old A&R man, the producer for a good portion of “This Is My First Album” from Rick Rubin’s American Recordings label, providing him with rare studio masters from many sessions recorded between ’92-94!
