For everyone thinking everything is going to be great with the new Wu….check this. Could be publicity stunt….could be Rae thinks what a lot of ppl have been thinking for awhile. Of all the boundary-pushing underground hip-hop acts who emerged in the late ’90s, Company Flow was easily among the hardest and least compromising, spinning highly technical rhymes over buzzing, lo-fi beats with virtually no concessions to melody or polish. It comes as no surprise that onetime Company Flow leader El-P’s solo debut, Fantastic Damage, takes a similar approach — yet it’s a logical and distinct progression from the sound that made Company Flow such seminal figures in underground rap. Fantastic Damage is even more aggressive and confrontational in its approach, and this time out, El-P himself is solely responsible for the sonic backdrop, producing the entire record by himself. If the production sounds a little fuller than Company Flow’s essential Funcrusher Plus, it’s likely because in many places, El-P has fleshed out his scuzzy, banging, stop-start percussion tracks with abrasive, distorted noise, which
sounds like nothing so much as the furies unleashed. There are also plenty of tinny, blooping vintage synths that lend the music a cold, inhuman air — and that’s no doubt intentional, because Fantastic Damage paints a chilling portrait of contemporary society that’s so bleak it often crosses into the apocalyptic. The music makes El-P’s paranoid totalitarian nightmares totally convincing, not just because of its sheer wallop, but also in the subtler details that emerge
with repeated listens — the bizarre sound snippets and ghostly washes that seem to teeter on the edge of madness. Throughout the record, El-P proves he’s one of the most technically gifted MCs of his time, spitting out near-impossible phrases and rhythmic variations that simply leave the listener’s head spinning. Accessible it isn’t, but Fantastic Damage constitutes some of the most challenging, lyrically dense hip-hop around, assembled by one of the genre’s true independent mavericks.

“Beat Diarya (bEEt dy-UH-rEE-UH) is the latest “rap experiment” from Edmonton producer Jon b. Juggling his time between Toronto and his hometown for over a year, his mantra has been a continuing mission to explore strange new rhythms and seek out new esoteric samples to boldly go where no bedroom superstars have gone before. Or he was just uninspired by the idea of a traditional remix album/mixtape, so Jon b resolved to include material that was spastic, odd and unexpected. In this rap experiment, Jon b includes “warps” of songs–sort of like a mash-up, but with his own unique interpretations. Many of the songs include sampled drums as well as sounds from drum machines (the classic TR-808 is one of his favorites). As a result, warps modify in whole or in part: the tempo, pitch and cadence of many rap anthems. Mr. Green is a self taught, hip hop composer who takes a
straight forward approach to his production. In just two
short years, he has begun to make a name for himself by
following his simple model “if it’s a good beat, you can
feel it in your chest, and it will make you want to knod
your head”. Originally a DJ, Mr. Green’s first official
production credit came at the end of 2006 on C Rayz Walz
album “The Dropping”. The song “Childhood” featured
Matisyahu, the platinum Jewish Reggae sensation. Although it
wasn’t released as a single, the song recieved critical
acclaim and is considered a classic among C Rayz Walz and
Matisyahu fans alike. In the summer of 2007, Mr. Green
released a solo project entitled “Green Future”. The album
was a fusion project consisting half of instrumentals and
half of complete songs. The album featured several notable
Mc’s such as Killah Priest, Pacewon, Cymarshall Law, Frankie
Krutches, Rob Kelly (Ireland), Drago Balti (Tunisia) and
Baby Blue (England). ‘Green Future’ is available on I Tunes
or directly from Mr. Green through his myspace page.

Currently Mr. Green is working on a collaboration project
with former Outsidaz frontman, and legendary New Jersey MC,
Pacewon. The album, entitled Timeless, is coming out on Raw
Poetix records in the first quarter of 2008. The first
single, Hip Hop, will be dropping officially this fall.

I’ve been making Beats for 3 years now. I developed a lot over these years and my style of production changed. I’m still working with Cool Edit and Fruity Loops, but that’s cool with me cause when you got talent it doesn’t matter what you use (my opinion). It is really the time to get something out now. I started working with BLO I guess in the summer/fall of 2005, he was the first thta asked me for beats and I will always be thankful cause I don”t know if I would be what I am without him. He will always be my man! I got your back homie! Over the time there were a lot of people requesting beats and they are some of the most talented MC’s out there (You can really say MC in theses cases)

A special thank you goes to Tony Tigerstyle who isn’t just one of the best MC’s out there but has become a really close friend. He is always motivating me to do the best I can and even a little more. I’m working on an album with him as “The Soul Occupants”. I’m working on albums with BLO, Dundee and Haji P and D’Cyple too. That will really be some stuff you need to hear, real music from people who love Hip Hop. Besides that, you can find all the people I’m working with in my Top Friends. I got stuff coming with Punchline, The Aquamonk (of Perverted Monks), Suzi Analogue and a few others. I will do some more with German MC’s too, like Esperado, Albino, AKF & Dreistil and Chezz.One. You can hear a selection of those bets on the beat snippet in the end of the EP.

Hip Hop is my life and I hope you can hear the love that I got in my beats, cause I put my heart in ’em. I think the MC’s you can hear on the tracks fit the beats perfectly, not only with their voice and flow, but with their character and their passion. I got a lot of love for all of them. I wouldn’t work with anybody, they have to be good people, I’m not fu**ing with assholes, if you aren’t a nice person the chances of getting a beat are really low. Plus you ain’t getting anything for free anymore (except you are fam). Hip Hop music has become too clean in my eyes, people got computer programs and try to make the sound as clean as possible, I’m a fan of the Golden Age, a mix doesn’t have to be super clean and loud, I love the crackling of the needle on the record, every track on my EP is mixed like I wanted it to be, there are tracks that need to sound dirty. As long as it sounds good, it’s dope! Don’t kill all the dynamics, people! That’s what radoio people do, lol.

To come to the Point. This EP represents what I love. My beats are inspired by Primo, Pete Rock, J Dilla, Black Milk, Dr. Dre and even Timbaland. I’m not trying to go in one direction, I’m trying to be as versatile as possible cause I like a lot of different styles.I don’t care if anyone used a sample before cause I never try to copy a beat, I always try to flip it different.
