I know this is a bit away from the norm here and there are some artists that we would all consider “commercial”. However, there are some gems in here. This is some DJ Mash-ups and i thought some of the tracks were dope and decided to share with ya. I just had to post a lil something about this before clowning about names like Justin Timberlake and Kelly Clarkson jump out at you in the track listings. However if you pass it up, you will miss gems like Fort Minor Vs Oasis – Minor Oasis. Either way, here it is if anyone wants to check em out…

Bringing together Freddy Fresh and MC Conductor Crucified, this new album from Stark Ravin’ Records is the first in a mooted series wherein the two come together and exchange aural punches in the form of beats and rhymes. Somewhat tarred with the big beat brush, Fresh has long since reformed and can now boast one of the finest repertoires of funk and hip-hop beats this side of the equator. Here using his time behind the glass to mould production that ranges from steamy funk one minute to rolling hip-hop the next, Fresh gives Conductor Crucified just the right amount of room to breathe – ensuring the background never becomes too sparse or too over-crowded. Conscientious without becoming dull or pious, Conductor Crucified has a relaxed and melodious flow that juxtaposes perfectly with Fresh’s unpolished beats – particularly on tracks such as ‘Mutilated Mind Filters’ and ‘Get Back!’. Fresh and clean!

Ace party track from DJ First Aid on brand new UK Hip
Hop label to watch – Gettin Better Records. A side
Devon Cream featuring Rodny P and old school hero MC D
is the big track here sounding like the kind of floor
filler The Nextmen would cane! Escapology on the flip
is a charming and eccentric track with hilarious
lyrics.

Release Notes:

MC Eiht’s newest solo due soon, enjoy.

Aaron Tyler (born May 22, 1967 in Compton, California) is an American rapper
better known by his stage name MC Eiht. A pioneer of gangsta rap, he first
emerged as one of the lead rappers of Compton’s Most Wanted (C.M.W.), and later
became an actor and solo MC. He is best known in the acting world for his role
as “A-Wax” in The Hughes Brothers’ film Menace II Society, and for providing the
voice of Ryder in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. C.M.W. is set
for a reunion which will feature on DJ Slip’s next album The Minority Report. MC
Eiht also had a role in 1998’s movie, Thicker than Water as Lil Ant with Mack
10, Fat Joe, Ice Cube, WC, CJ Mac, Big Pun, and Cypress Hill’s B-Real. One of
his most famous songs would most likely be Streiht Up Menace from the motion
picture Menace II Society. This song is considered by many to be one of the
greatest rap songs of all time. He is best known for his catchphrase
“Geyyeahh”.

DJ Quik and MC Eiht constantly dissed each other while both had growing
popularity at the time. The feud was fueled when DJ Quik gave shout outs to
C.M.W. on an early mixtape, and MC Eiht interpreted it as a diss. Also Eiht had
ties to the Crips (he’s a member of Tragniew Park Compton Crips) while Quik had
ties to the Bloods (he’s a member of Tree Top Piruanother gang from Compton).
The beef was ended when DJ Quik offered to make a song with Eiht, and end the
beef. There was also an incident where a man died in a scuffle between Eiht’s
people and Quik’s people. MC Eiht can be seen in the Wu-Tang Clan’s video for
“Can It All Be So Simple”.

In recent years, MC Eiht has become involved in a number of side projects when
he is not releasing solo albums – including two collaboration albums with Spice
1 (The Pioneers and Keep It Gangsta in 2004 and 2006, respectively), a record
with Brotha Lynch Hung (The New Season in 2006), and another Compton’s Most
Wanted album (Music To Gang Bang, also in 2006). More recently, MC Eiht has
begun working with Snoop Dogg, appearing on two songs from Snoop’s new album Tha
Blue Carpet Treatment and also participating in Snoop’s side project Warzone
along with Goldie Loc and Kam.

Guest vocalist on the track is none other than RZA aka
ROBERT DIGGS aka BOBBY DIGITAL, mastermind of the hip
hop legends the WU-TANG CLAN. He makes sure that Now
That I’m Free reaches an even higher level of energy
than it otherwise would without his vocal
contribution.
Besides the main mix the 12″ also contains and
instrumental version as well as the a cappella version
of Now That I’m Free. There is also a bonus track, The
World, which is not on the album release. This 12″ is
up OUTLINES usually high standard and will appeal to
(not only) hip hop Djs.

Release Notes:

On the surface, nothing’s changed. There’s the same core line-up, the same
oppositional politics, the same live shows that erupt into drum-line blessed
community parties, and the same devotion to polyglot urban sound clashing. But
here’s what’s new: after 12 years of collaborative song-writing, 12 years of
constant touring everywhere from Denver to Tokyo to Sydney, 12 years of
supporting anti-war mobilizations and global human rights movements, 12 years of
pioneering Spanish-English mash-ups of hip hop, salsa, cumbia, dub, and Middle
Eastern funk, and most importantly, 12 years of facing up to internal battles
and personal struggles, they’ve emerged anew with their fourth full-length
studio album, Don’t Mess With The Dragon, the band’s most cohesive, polished,
and joyous record to date.

“There is more of a sense of personal responsibility on this one,” says bassist
Wil-Dog Abers. “All of us are on this road of being more responsible in our own
lives, becoming happier human beings, healthier in our lives outside of the
band. In the process of making the record, people were really deep in the
process of getting their lives together. It made a big difference. People
growing up, people taking care of their own lives. The healthier people get, the
better the music gets.”

Don’t Mess With The Dragon was written and recorded with a firm commitment to
collective creation. They began writing and experimenting with songs in informal
sessions in the fall of 2005 at a local Los Angeles Latino art gallery, Tropico
de Nopal. Then came recording sessions in the legendary Fantasy studios in
Northern California, followed by sessions at a slew of prime LA recording
houses.

“It’s always a struggle to be creative together, as a unit, but this was by far
our best time in the studio together,” says percussionist Jiro Yamaguchi. “It
takes maturity to work together and we are all getting better at communicating.
“In the past, we would be like, this song is a Raul song, this song is an Asdru
song, and this song is a Justin song. There wasn’t much room for interplay. On
this record, we have more interplay; all the characters work together into a
whole book instead of just being in a bunch of short stories says Wil Dog.”

Much of the band’s renewed sense of musical collaboration comes from their
relationship with their label, venerable jazz and Latin stalwarts Concord
Records. Don’t Mess With The Dragon is Ozo’s second full length, studio offering
for Concord — their longest stay with a single label.

—- To say that SoulStice spits knowledge would be —-
—- an understatement; after all, he does have a —-
—- Masters Degree in Electrical Computer —-
—- Engineering and holds down a position with the —-
—- Department of Defense! Yet, SoulStice iterates —-
—- that the challenge of balancing his high-powered —-
—- ôday jobö and his passion for music is the —-
—- creative fuel behind his unique brand of hip —-
—- hop. Years of grind and immersion in hip hop —-
—- culture culminated in the fall of 2005 for —-
—- SoulStice with the release of his debut album —-
—- North by Northwest: Solid Ground. Released —-
—- independently through Wandering Soul Records, —-
—- the album was quickly hailed by critics and fans —-
—- as one of the best hip hop albums of 2005. The —-
—- success of the debut was followed up in 2006 —-
—- with the release of the collaborative album Dark —-
—- Water, which SoulStice crafted as part of the —-
—- hip hop duo, Wade Waters. —-
