Best known for his work as the MC/producer of the group All Natural, Cap D is back with his third release in a trilogy of solo hip-hop albums. “Return Of The Renegade” finds him hitting hard with rugged, hardcore hip-hop reminiscent of the golden era of the Wu Tang Clan. Packed with fourteen bonafide street bangers, Cap puts his foot on the accelerator and doesn’t let up until taking listeners on a journey through the south side streets of Chicago. The album was inspired in part by his travels to China, experiences in Chicago, and his love of no-frills hip-hop. The result is a sonic adventure that drips with Asian sonic influences laced with razor sharp lyrics.

Release Notes:

As group member Zakee sees it, the five rappers in Pitch Black
were already “360 degrees of hip-hop” before they joined
together in 1994. Zakee, D.G., Devious, Fast, and G.O.D. had
long been involved in the scene, writing rhymes, performing
their own raps solo, DJing, and spraying graffiti around
Brooklyn. After coming together they quickly released the
independent single “Hold Me Down,” and a five-track EP.
Shopping their music up and down the East Coast, the band
landed opening spots for Jay-Z, Lil’ Kim, Trick Daddy, and
Method Man. Each show was considered a learning experience, as
was a recording session with Lord Finesse. In 2002 G.O.D. was
featured on the track “the Mix Show” from Wyclef Jean’s
Masquerade album. A year later the group released its first
mixtape, Pitch Black Season, hosted by loudmouth legend DJ
Kayslay. The mix featured Busta Rhymes, Wyclef, and a number
of demos from the group’s debut, Pitch Black Law, which
dropped officially in early 2004.

RELEASE NOTES:
A-Class brings Hip-Hop back to life with his debut album, Motive Response. His
Grade-A classic rhymes and complicated rhythms put mainstream music into after school
programs. He twists each word to have dual meanings and uses metaphors from science
to TV sitcoms. Using his voice and educated mind, he succeeds in telling a different
story in each track with the same hustle and dedication.

The emcee’s compilation has the main elements of a great Hip-Hop record. Its lyricist
is on point, you can lap dance to some beats and head nod to others, and it’s
complete with witty interludes and old school samples.

The record is well produced by Tom Delay, P-nyce, Rosirus, Big Whiz, and DJ Dyrti.
They allow A-Class to stand out as the artist, but keep the music well mixed through
the speakers. no EQ-ing involved ladies and thugs. Each beat incorporates samples
ranging from piano to big brass to jazz flutes and heavy percussion. Samples circa
1930s to present day gel completely with A-Class’s solid tone.

WHOA now, so I know this completely breaks the “Rules” of the Blog, but this is something that EVERYBODY needs to hear… I remember a While ago there was a little discussion in the Box about MF Grimm, alot of people hadn’t heard too much from him and weren’t too familiar with his story, WELL, hearing this Freestyle might help you realize how Truly ILL the man was as a Lyricist. This was recorded before he was Shot, Paralyzed, and Imprisoned, and if you’re familiar with Grimm, you will be able to tell the difference, his Pre-Shot stuff was Pure, Smooth & Raw. I mean listen to it, fuckin Kool G Rap backs down like 2/3 of the way through so Grimm can keep rippin it. Who knows where Grimm would have ended up if he hadn’t have gotten Blasted. ANYWAY, I got this over at Stretch Armstrong’s Blog – http://konstantkontakt.blogspot.com/ – which you may want to check out for Exclusive Gems, this is from the 5 Year Anniversary Show, but I chopped it so it’s only the Rhyming, you may want to check the Blog for the rest of the show, it’s funny, they get Mad Fools callin in to give Props, and Stretch/Bobb/& Kool G all Diss on pretty much everybody that calls in… Anyway, PEACE.

RELEASE NOTES:
As a member of INI, Rob-O crushed their unreleased but heavily
bootlegged classic album from start to finish, often leaving Green
St.’s microphones damp with an ammonia meets cannaboid stench.
Similarly, he rips like Wrestlemania XII on this 1st time collected
(on CD or otherwise) previously released & unreleased tracks dating
from 1994 through 1999. Rob- O’s lyrical style is a throwback to the
“Golden Era” of Hip Hop, when Gang Starr, L.O.N.S., Pete Rock & CL
Smooth, Brand Nubian, Lord Finesse, etc, were releasing back to back
classics. Production by PETE ROCK (on four tracks), GRAP LUVA, SPUNK
BIGGA (BRAND NUBIAN), UNSUNG HEROES and more. The track “Stay Away”
features DE LA SOUL, and “So Manny Rappers” features PETE ROCK on
vocals. The album includes a STRETCH & BOBBITO freestyle with INI

Psycho Les is best known to the rest of the Hip Hop World as one half of the legendary Beatnuts. On February 13th, Les offers listeners his first solo album called “Psycho Therapy”, consisting of 18 tracks with Les on the microphone as well as the boards. Expect nothing but quality beats and rhymes as every track has that Beatnuts’ sound to it with features from the one and only DJ Honda, Triple Seis, and Black Attack. Production on “Psycho Therapy” has all the elements that were involved with previous Beatnuts albums, including crazy samples, ear friendly horns, and drums to make any avid drummer go “whoa”. Reggaeton fans will also be pleased as Big Psyche puts together a track with a Reggaeton/Hip Hop feel while rhyming in Spanish. Bottom line, “Psycho Therapy” is a must have for listeners that have been down since the “Intoxicated Demons” days, and for the rest, please pay close attention and pay homage to an MC/Producer that has been holding down Hip Hop since the late 80s.

Big City members Psycho Les (Beatnuts), Al Tariq aka Fashion (Beatnuts) & Problemz (Missin Linx) have made a huge impact on the hip hop world together and individually. From their classic Beatnuts albums like Intoxicated Demons, Musical Massacre, Take It or Squeeze It, Street Level & Stone Crazy to the underground smashes like Al Tariq’s God Connections and Missin Linx’s Exhibit A EP, these guys have always been a favorite amongst the fans. Now for the first time, all three join forces toform Big City and drop a modern day classic with that feel good humor Beatnuts fans have grown to love. As you would expect all the production on this album is provided by none other than The Beatnuts. A collaboration made in heaven, it could only happen in the Big City That Never Sleeps.

Real real good dude, I’ve chatted with him via myspace and blogs and even AIM on numerous occasions. He loves what he does, and he makes dope beats. My personal favorite is Beat 20, The Fall of Babylon…
Last I spoke with him, about maybe a week ago, he said he was working on an album, trying to make sure it’s done to his standards of perfection. It’s not often a post like this is made, so go check the dude out…show some love. I know he’ll show it right back.

Check out his myspace here: Aurelien Atkins

Also, if you know any producers that you think deserve a “spotlight”, let us know. We know how hard it is to get noticed, no dope producer should be left behind.

Hi everyone. I told you I’d pop in on occasion – I was searching Google for some stuff, and I stumbled across this site.
Lots and lots of beats from various artists, a lot of mainstream radio stuff, but there’s some bangers on here.
Enjoy, make sure you check out my blog as well…thanks. 🙂
