Release Notes:

Executive Producer Buddha Monk brings forth his latest Zu
Chronicle, from the Wu-Tang affiliated Brooklyn Zu Chamber
associated with the late great Old’ Dirty Bastard. Da
Manchuz are an offshoot Wu-Tang affiliated crew hailing out
of Brooklyn, New York. Rappers Babyface Fensta, Drunken
Dragon, Born U Majesty, Chilli Black, Spiritual Assassin,
Delta One, War, and Buddha Monk himself had one of one of
the hottest, most talented underground crews in all of
Hip-Hop, but like so many great groups, their album never
actually saw the light of day. But for fans of that classic,
grimy, 1990’s East Coast Hip-Hop sound, Chambermusik Special
Products/ Duck-Lo Records have finally made it possible for
fans to hear this classic time capsule. Also featured here
are a lineup of great emcees andvocalists such as Dungeon
Masta, Lazah Life, Grime, Lil Vicious, Popa Chief, Polladon,
Etcetera, Juice, Redz, Raw, Rambo, Preach and others. Beats
are provided by the usual Bklyn Zu Elements of Buddha Monk,
Marcus Logan, and Mr. Tibbs. Here and now, for the very
first time, we present to you the Great Manchuz Dynasty!

Release Notes:

Fans of The Roots, US3, The Chapter, and DaKah Hip Hop
Orchestra will enjoy these dudes…

At the heart of San Francisco’s infamous Jazz Mafia, you’ll
find The Shotgun Wedding Quintet – A group of 5 powerful
musical personalities with the sound of a 10-piece band…
literally. By taking advantage of modern technology, these
guys use electronic sampling devices to layer their sound,
an original technique this band has mastered. Unlike
traditional hip-hop and pop groups that tend to focus on a
lead, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet emphasizes the importance
of each instrument with respect to the group’s overall
sound. The result is a controlled chaos of rap, big band,
electronic and symphonic music that MC/vocalist Dave
“Dublin” Payne-Schwirtz calls “thinking man’s hip-hop.”

So much happens on stage at a Shotgun Wedding Quintet show
that one has a hard time knowing where to look. Joe Cohen
juggles the keyboard, flute and three different types of
saxophones; Adam Theis alternately plucks a seven-string
bass and pulls on a trombone. Gerald “P. Dub” Patrick plays
various percussive instruments, including the electronic
drums, and DJ/Producer “Aspect” McCarthy brings it all
together electronically. In the studio, the band found new
creativity in the process of translating live into recorded
music — and vice versa. They messed around with segments
recorded from previous shows to create a sampled sound.
Conversely, the Quintet enlisted 18-20 additional musicians
to recreate samples that had previously been “chopped up”
for live shows. In live performances these pre-recorded
layers generate the feeling of a full orchestra with only
five musicians on stage. “Our whole vibe was to make
something that sounds traditional using symphonic stuff, but
is futuristic in the approach with electronic beats and
samples,” says Dublin.

Release Notes
————-

Following acclaimed releases from Tornts, the Hospice
Crew and Overproof in 2006, the whole Broken Tooth clan
returns in 2007 with a compilation featuring all the
label’s acts, all in BTE’s inimitably raw, hardcore
style. Contributors include Ciecmate, Newsense, Tornts,
Bunks, Bigfoot, Rhys, Overproof and more, with beats by
Ciecmate, I.N.C.H, Tornts, Zux, Fame and others.
Alternately sinsister, serious and hilarious, this is a
perfect snapshot of one of Australia’s leading
underground labels and a prelude to upcoming full length
projects from many of these artists.

DJ Format from Brighton, UK. Famous for his mixtapes and great taste in music. This is last year’s mix CD which, as he says on the cover, consists of samples and sounds from records he’s found and bought while travelling around the mainland. The idea reminded me of Oh No’s Oxperiment, but this is one seamless mix of 65 minutes that has me bobbing my head all the way through. Fonky as a mufucka. Great work.

Split archive. cos quality is worth the wait 😉

(Rapidshare has this option of configuring files as direct downloads, i.e. without the fussy bit of punching in letters and waiting, etc. I’ve done that on my part2 files for as long as my trial credit allowed me to. Now that the credit’s used up, it’s back to the little delay. Oh well…)

This is the pre-release from Shad. Mixed by his DJ, it contains some of the songs now availble on his new album The Old Prince, some still unreleased stuff and some live concert recordings, great for any Shad fan! (Album art included)

About Shadrach Kabango : i like to rhyme. i like to play guitar. my music ranges from jokes type stuff to songs about some pretty heavy stuff and sometimes both in the same tune… thats me. thats everyone. thats life… im thankful for the chance to make music and the many people that have supported me in what i do.

“My DJ (and newly-crowned 2007 Canadian Head-To-Head DMC battle Champion!) DJ T Lo made this little promo mix called “La Cassette Mixee”… fun lil mix containing snippets from album tracks, live stuff, unreleased stuff… If you want a free copy of it, send a quick email to [email protected] and we’ll send you the mix! (ps: all my french heads know that ‘cassette’ is actually a masculine noun but we keep it gangsta with that foreign grammar nahmean!?) also, if youre sending an email, say whats up while youre at it…”

***** Alright people, don’t you dare pass on this cat. I don’t care if you have to jack a kid for his lunch money to get a rapidshare account just to get this, but GET THIS. Its got that Roots, Tribe, almost Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince playful (but not goofy like them) sound to it. I really enjoyed what i heard from this guy and will be undoubtedly supporting this artist. I cant wait to hear more from him and neither should you…

INVINCIBLE Brings YOU A hip-hop audio documentary by the
Detroit Summer Live Arts Media Project

Through the Live Arts Media Project, Detroit Summer is
using art and media to voice creative, sustainable
solutions to the problems we face in our schools,
neighborhoods and the world.

We believe that young people should have a voice in the
decisions that determine their lives. Our CD, “Rising Up
From the Ashes: Chronicles of a Drop-Out”, is a youth
response to the drop-out crisis in Detroit schools. If
every student who dropped out went back to school, DPS
would have enough money to keep all the schools open.
What would it take to stop people from dropping out?
What would it take to bring them back?

We believe it would take a new vision for the purpose of
education, new relationships between students and
teachers, between students and students, and between
students and the material they are learning. We would
need curriculum that was fair and relevant and that
prepared youth to solve the urgent problems in their
lives and their communities.

To keep our schools open, we need money. But we need
creativity, hope and youth participation if we want our
schools to fulfill the human right to education.
